Red and Blue
Diana has spent her summer putting together a costume for the upcoming autumnal celebration of all things pagan, er, I mean Halloween. I was honored to have her hire me to come out and take it to the next level through the power of location lighting.
We started out by hitting Orchards Park. The foresty backdrop may have been a bit cliche given the subject matter, but hey. Cliches work.

With the safe shots in the bag, and the sun starting to fall, we went down to location two: The Columbia River Waterfront (Vancouver side). This is where the magic happened. I used the CTO trick, warming up the flash on her face so that when I corrected for it, it would bring a bit more blue to the skies. I use that trick a lot, and I love it every time. When the blue of the sky combined with the red of the hood? Magic. That’s the only word for it.

I brand myself as a location photographer. I carry lights everywhere I shoot, whether they be small AA powered flashes, or big studio ones powered off a car battery. The reason I do that is to get the kind of results you aren’t going to get anywhere else. What would these photos have looked like without the flash?

Not quite as cool eh?
Halloween is a great time for fun photos of yourselves or your kids, so don’t hesitate to give me a call and set up an appointment to get some – if I could be immodest here – straight up awesome pictures made.
