Cross Lighting a Bike Portrait
7/11/09 – Rebecca Getsfrid – Commercial Portrait Photographer in Vancouver, Washington and Portland Oregon
A week ago I ordered the Vagabond II power unit from Paul Buff and Joelle was kind enough to ride over and help me test it out. I dare say it’s the best thing I’ve bought since the Alien Bees monolights and that not being tethered to a wall plug is potentially the greatest thing ever. We went out to a small field near my place and figured out what we could do.
This is probably one of the more photoshopped shots I’ve ever done. I cloned the light stand out from the light providing the flare, and enhanced the flare itself just because I couldn’t get the lens flare I envisioned from using the lens alone.
Alien Bees AB800 bounced off white umbrella, camera right, AB800 with 30 degree Grid Spot in frame, behind subject.
